Example 2
Demarcation (divide & connect)
The creative principle of “demarcation” is used for spatial separation e.g., of liquids with containers. Barriers are used to separate groups of people (e.g., airports, national borders, city walls). Traps or fences are commonly used to catch animals. Even living organisms are made up of individual cells, whereby a cell is protected from the outside world by an enveloping membrane. A cell also contains a smaller cell nucleus, which in turn is enclosed by its own membrane. Similarly, mechanical and chemical aids are used to remove dirt when cleaning objects.

Example
How can shoes be tied with just one hand?
(e.g.: one-handed person, illusionist)
Solution
Separation of the hand into “two hands” by dividing the fingers into two groups. A second decisive creative principle for this handling is fixation (the opposite of movement).
